Pacing Verdict
The screenplay demonstrates excellent pacing, skillfully balancing tense, claustrophobic sequences (the arrest, detention, and interrogation) with quieter, character-driven moments (family gatherings, beach scenes, Veroca's letters). The three-act structure is well-served: Act 1 establishes warmth and normalcy before the abrupt intrusion, Act 2 maintains relentless forward drive through Eunice's ordeal and aftermath, and Act 3 efficiently compresses decades into poignant, emotionally resonant scenes without feeling rushed. The only minor rhythm issues occur in the final act, where the time jumps and introduction of new characters (adult Babiu, Marcelo's accident) momentarily disrupt narrative momentum, but the emotional payoff and thematic closure remain strong.
Narrative Archetype
Pursuit without closure. The story is about the doing, not the arriving, and it ends in ongoing tension rather than resolution.
